The house is coming together nicely, we have mostly everything done.  We are just trimming up the the house with the old refinished trim.  It’s looking like home again.  There are people down the street working on a house, seems that today they have finished their drywall.. which means they don’t have much left for them to do.

Downloaded a new game on XBLA, been playing it for a little while, seems to be a pretty neat game..  I hope to actually finish it and have lots of fun with it.

I’ve been, also, working with Chris Pirillo, but due to work and theatre have had to put that on hold for a couple of weeks as that gets sorted out.

Speaking of Theatre, TCR has announced their new season.. Looks to be a promising season, as well they are planning to be BACK in the theatre building by this time next year.  I’m am really looking forward to getting back in there.

Coming up in the next few weeks, I have a knitting project I’m trying to get done, (two actually) get to meet up with some friends, get to do some new programming in rails.. It hopes to be a interesting May and I hope to blog more often as things happen.

First, let’s start with the house.  Our counter tops are all in and looking awesome.  As well, our kitchen sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher are all in and working wonderfully.

We have very few things left.. we are in the home stretch.. we are so close to being done.. We’ll see how the final inspection goes.

Next, I’ve got a new gig that I’m working on.  I’m helping out doing a little css and coding work on the WicketPixie theme with another guy for Chris Pirillo.  It’s a lot of fun, got my brain working again.

We also had a few friends in town, and I had some time to finish a knitting project in a  couple of days.  (You can read about it at my Knitting Blog).  It was lots of fun, and one of the few “Finished Objects” I have.  I have now started on a hat for my wife, should have that done in a few days if I can keep at it.. Working with a lot of stitches and in the round.

More things are coming down the pike, I’ll keep you all clued in!

First of all, let’s talk about the house.  We got all our kitchen cabinets in and set, they look great (sorry no pictures today).  We are supposed to have the counter tops in and mounted this weekend.  After that, we have just a few rooms left to put trim up in.  The original woodwork trim that we pulled out, cleaned, sanded and stained are going back up.  We have the hallway, Jake’s room and some of the dinning room done.  We need to finish up Jennifer’s room, the living and dinning room.  It’s looking much better.

Also last week I started to work at TCR again.  We are doing the play Fences.  It’s a pretty powerful show, it’s actually pretty good.  As always there are little things that happen that make you roll your eyes.. and then we have the tech problems.  Last weeks tech problems were fun.  We had a small power surge during our opening night and made the whole of the stage lights flicker on and off (like someone flipping a switch on and off) for the whole of the second act.  On Sunday we had sound issues, the computer that runs the sound was having memory  issues and was not found until 10 minutes before house opened.  We did get that fixed up and working just fine however.

Coming up next is the closing of Fences this weekend (the 29th) and hopefully I’ll be able to get some good quality time in Azeroth, with LittleSister and in Paradise City.. Yes that’s right, I’m sure some of you got the references out there.

As well, I’ve started a new knitting blog and a new project as well.  I’m close to half done with it.  This is something, currently, I’m working on while waiting for things to happen backstage (between scene changes, and during intermission).

We are doing VERY good on the house.  The floors are done, we got lots of furniture in, the electrical is done, the appliances are in and we are just waiting to get our cabinets and countertops in.

I took my first tour of the new TCR building, TCR Lindale.  It’s a nice little space, very intimate and very nice for what we do.  I’m excited to be getting back into working at TCR.  I’ve missed my time away from TCR and hope that we can have lots more fun in the coming years.

On a side note, I’ve been watching more and more TV through hulu.  Watching Late Night with Jimmy Falon, which didn’t interest me at first.. but after the 5th show.. he’s gotten better.  I think he’s finaly getting more comfortable in his late night position.  Also caught up on my Family Guy, which I’ve never really watched but seem to enjoy.

Anyway.. we hope to have the house done here within a month.. Many pics to come when that happens.  More to come next week!

Sorry for flaking on the weekly update last week, things got pretty busy and such.  And as such, this week will be extremely short as well.

The Floors, last of 'em

As of 2/23 we got all the flooring down except for just a little bit in a couple of closets.  That means we can start to furnish.  Tonight we plan on cleaning to get ready to furnish the first floor.  The daughter has already moved back into her room, we still have the wall decals to do on the sons room as well.  All that is rather easy however.  

I’m still working on getting the Garage plugs and switches all done.  That is taking a lot longer than I expected because of all the oil/gas mixture that is coating the plug boxes that I have to clean out.  As well, the wires are just a bit to short to do anything with so I have to pigtail almost all the plugs.  It will be all good once it’s done tho, it will be a big achievement when it’s done.

We are getting a big bunch of deliveries this weekend too.  Friday we plan on getting the: Fridge, Dishwasher, Base Cabinets and Living room furniture delivered.  Over the weekend we are trying to get just about all of our remaining stuff moved out of our temporary place and in to the house proper.

I’m sure there’s a lot that I’ve missed.. hopefully soon I’ll have more time to just sit and do nothing for a few days.. play some games.. watch some TV.. The kids Birthdays are this week too, so it begs to be another busy week.  Jake’s is Wednesday with a pizza party somewhere.. and Jenni’s is Friday.  She is planning on having a party at the house.. which is another reason we are trying to get everything in and going.

First, let’s start off with some good news, we got quite a bit of painting done over the weekend.  It was a busy 3 days.  We got most of the kitchen done, have a wall left in there.  We got the dinning room and living room painted, we might have some touch-ups in there.  We got the hallway to the downstairs bedrooms painted and the bathroom almost done (painted, toilet installed, shower head installed)

Future rebuilding news, seems they are going to attempt to start on the floors this weekend, which is awesome.  We are meeting with a new insurance agent coming up soon.  We should be finishing up the kitchen and bathroom this week.  We also have some old high school friends coming in to town to visit this week that want to help paint, so that will be fun.

In other news, seems the world is going to end this Friday, at least in the *nix world.  That’s always fun to know.  Seems the date for Friday the 13th, 2009 is: 1234567890 for the UNIX timestamp.  It’s always fun when people find neat little things like that.

As well, I’ve decided that I’m going to re-start my work with TCR.  I figure, why keep hard feelings, life is too short.  I like working there, I miss the people I worked with.. so with Fences you should see me hanging around a little more.

Today is, of course, groundhog day.  Poor phil saw his shadow which means we have 6 more weeks of winter.  I got to thinking, doesn’t he USUALLY see his shadow, I can’t remember a time where he hasn’t.  But I must due my duty and watch the movie today.. Get that out of my system.

As well, this weekend I got to play some more WOW.. I have a couple of toons up to 20, which means I get to leave the starter areas for .. well greener pastures.. however, most of the time you get quests that “point” you in a direction.. with my Draeni Paladin, however, I really didn’t have anywhere to go, I moved over to the wetlands to do some questing there.. We’ll see how that goes

The Floors

More work happened on the house this week, we had people in the last few days (sans Sunday) that was doing the mudding and did some sanding.  They should be getting close to doing the final texturing.. We have also bought all the paint and gotten all the wood for the floors that we need.  There was 53 boxes of flooring, which totalled just a little over a ton of wood flooring.. We tried not to stack it all in one place.   We are getting close.. Once the walls are up we can go full bore on the paint and floors.. I believe they can happen at the same time as long as we are careful.  The kitchen cabinets are getting ordered sometime this week, and as soon as we the floors in the kitchen, we will get our appliances put in there.. things are wrapping up hopefully.  I’m hoping that once we get the walls ready for work, we can just plow forward as we won’t really be waiting on skilled labour.  The floors however, we do have to have someone in to do those.

The new van

Work is going through growing pains again, but it’s like that at all places, all in all work is good..

We got a new car, pretty awesome there.. We got a 2004 Toyota Sienna that’s pretty much fully loaded.. I’m missing my remote car starter, and unfortunately I can’t get one installed in the van until the end of February.  Going to have to think about that one.  As well, our flooring should be here this week.  Our kitchen cabinets have been “Drawn out”, just waiting from the blessing from the wife.  The rebuild is going slow.. but it’s going..

We’ve picked up paint for most of the downstairs, got to get the rest this week..

Once we get most of the floors in, we will start to move in furniture (some of which is on the way, others in the garage), appliances and such like that.
